Your local Ultraframe installer will be able to advise on the best replacement conservatory roof for your project and provide a quote.
As long as your conservatory still meets the following criteria, you shouldn't need Building Regulations approval to replace the conservatory roof. 1) Your conservatory must to be separated from the main house with external quality walls and/or windows and doors that meet Building Regulation requirements. 2) Your conservatory will need to have an independent heating system that has separate on/off and temperature controls to the main house’s heating system. As long as your conservatory still meets these requirements after you have replaced the roof, you shouldn't need Building Regulations approval. However, it's always a good idea to check with your local building control department.
Whether you need planning permission to replace your conservatory roof depends firstly on what type of roof you are replacing it with. If you are replacing with a glazed roof it is unlikely that you will need planning permission but your installer will be able to confirm. If you are replacing with a solid or tiled roof you may need planning permission. Speak to the planning officer at your local council who will be able to confirm this for you.
No, you don't need an architect to replace a conservatory roof. Your local Ultraframe conservatory installer will be able to take care of every step of the replacement conservatory roof process for you.
Whether you are replacing your conservatory roof with a glazed, solid or tiled roof, Ultraframe replacement conservatory roofs are the best on the market. This is because every single roof is designed to the postcode of the location where it will be installed for total structural integrity, as well as providing the best thermal performance and design options.
To replace your glass conservatory roof contact your local Ultraframe installer who will be able to explain the options to you. Once you have decided on the replacement roof, your installer will remove the existing conservatory roof and the windows and doors if needed and replace with your new conservatory roof.
There are several ways to make your conservatory roof warmer but the most important thing is not to use a conservatory insulations company as this process is detrimental to the performance and structural integrity of your conservatory. Ways that you can safely make your conservatory warmer include retro-fitting an Ultraframe insulated pelmet or replacing your roof with a solid or tiled conservatory roof such as Livinroof or Ultraroof.
Yes you can have windows in a solid conservatory roof. These can be small Velux windows or with the Ultraroof and Livinroof solid conservatory roofs from Ultraframe, you can have full length roof windows to flood your conservatory with natural light.
Replacing a conservatory roof can usually be done within several days. If you are replacing your conservatory roof with a solid or tiled roof, you will then need to allow for extra time for the interior to be plasterboarded and skimmed.
You don't always need to replace the windows and/or doors when you replace a conservatory roof. Your installer will assess their strength and advise whether they need to be replaced or upgraded to support the weight of your new conservatory roof.
One of the cheapest ways to extend your home is to add a conservatory with a solid or tiled roof such as Livinroof or Ultraroof from Ultraframe. From the inside they feature a plastered vaulted ceiling just like a traditionally built extension.
As a guide, single-storey rear extensions must not extend beyond the rear wall of the original house by more than eight metres if your home is detached, or more than six metres for any other style of house. Extensions of more than one storey must not extend beyond the rear wall of the original house by more than three metres. How far you can extend your house without Planning Permission comes down to the various rules within Permitted Development. These rules look at various factors such as how close you are to your neighbour's home and the type of home you live in. Your local installer or Building Control officer will be able to advise on how far you can extend your home after visiting your home and looking at these factors, as well as the others which make up the Permitted Development rules.
Ultraframe solid and tiled conservatory roofs have been fully fire tested. This means that not only the components have been fire tested, the whole built up roof has been fire tested. The Ultraframe solid roofs; Livinroof and Ultraroof are the only replacement conservatory roofs to be tested in this way, providing you with total peace of mind. Find out more here.
