Classic Conservatory Installation Northumberland

Our ‘Installation of the Month’ is all about Mr & Mrs Forsyth from the picturesque countryside of Northumberland who decided to transform their 20-year-old conservatory with a Glass Roof.

Purchasing their home in the gorgeous countryside in 2001, they decided to install a conservatory to enhance and maximise their views. Almost 20-years later, they discovered their conservatory started to leak and was looking tired.

Mr & Mrs Forsyth were very keen to replace their conservatory, creating a space they can use all year round, for any purpose. The couple, who run a successful business called Stay Northumbria, loved the extended room in their conservatory.

As Mr Forsyth explains: “The conservatory really is the hub of our home and our business - whether we’re entertaining, relaxing or even having a business meeting, the conservatory with its tremendous views over the garden and the Hills, is the perfect space.”

The Challenge

In 2001, Mr & Mrs Forsyth moved into their dream property in the stunning countryside in Northumberland. Wanting additional room in their new home, the couple decided to install a beautiful conservatory to complement their home’s aesthetics, whilst creating a practical space for them to use. With this new conservatory, they inherited beautiful views of their surroundings, making it perfect for them.

Fast forward 20 years and, while the couple loved the space provided by their beautiful conservatory, they knew a more thermally efficient conservatory was better suited to their needs. As well as this, they wanted to find one that would complement the understated tones of their existing windows and home, creating the perfect focal point for when guests and visitors arrive.

Mrs Forsyth explains:

“Through our other business interests we have a lot to do with a variety of building trades so we were very aware that there are better, more thermally efficient conservatory systems available today compared to 20 years ago.  We also wanted a conservatory that would enhance the existing tones of our windows and doors so anthracite grey seemed like the natural choice,”

Wanting to take advantage and make the most of their exceptional views, Mr & Mrs Forsyth were on a quest to find their perfect conservatory.

The Outcome

Mr & Mrs Forsyth were keen to create the perfect space for them, and were excited to work with Kitson Windows, in Alnwick.

The couple decided that the Glass Roof from Ultraframe was perfect for their home. Utilising high-performance glass, they were elated with their final product. Their new Glass Roof in anthracite grey features glazing all the way around the conservatory, with a remarkable glass roof being the focal point.

John comments:

“Mr & Mrs Forsyth had a really clear vision of the style of conservatory they wanted.  Their existing conservatory forms a really important part of how they use their home so it was essential that the new conservatory more than meets their needs particularly given the conservatory is south facing.  For many older conservatories, the intense summer months and colder winter months can wreak havoc on temperature control so the Forsyth’s were keen to find a solution that ticked a number of boxes - the Classic roof from Ultraframe did just that.  With its elegant lines, further enhanced by the anthracite, it really is stunning.”

Time was a worrying factor when it came to installing their conservatory, with the couple wanting to use it as quickly as possible.

However, they were pleasantly surprised when their installation was quick and easy - no fuss and no mess, with Mrs Forsyth telling us it was “exactly as promised”.

Having had their installation completed in March, the Forsyth’s were able to enjoy the beautiful summer sun. With the additional roof vents they chose to install, they have been able to quickly and easily ventilate their conservatory.

Mrs Forsyth says:

“We’ve yet to experience a winter in the conservatory but we’re optimistic that if the summer is anything to go by then we’ll be able to enjoy our new conservatory year-round.”
