From old conservatory to beautiful year-round hup! extension

More than a simple refresh

When homeowner Gary Pothecary decided to replace his old conservatory, he wanted much more than a simple refresh. The existing space no longer worked for the way he wanted to live, and Gary was looking for a room that could be enjoyed every day of the year, while also adding valuable extra living space to his home.

Discovering a revolutionary new building system

After getting in touch with Ultraframe, Gary was sent details of his local installer AA Windows who invited him to visit their showroom where he could see the hup! system for himself and understand exactly how it could transform his home. Being able to view the product in person made a real difference, helping him visualise what the finished space could look like and understand the benefits of choosing hup! for a conservatory conversion.

The range of options available played a big part in the decision. Gary explained “when I first visited the showroom, I knew very little about the system, but by the time I left, I had a clear understanding of how hup! could be tailored to suit my needs”. With guidance from Ultraframe and his installer, Gary was able to explore a wide range of design choices and create a solution that worked perfectly for his home.

Flexible and efficient solution

The hup! system consists of a fast to build and highly energy efficient wall solution that can be used in conjunction with any Ultraframe roof to create any style of extension. Gary Pothecary decided to replace their existing glass roof with simple lean-to style topped off with the Ultraframe Tiled Roof (Ultraroof) with full-length glazed panels. The internal doors were removed to create an open plan living area. The exterior was finished with a large set of anthracite grey bi-fold doors.

The hup! extension system is engineered using lightweight Ultrapanels, this makes it perfectly suited for building on top of an existing base, such as one from a former conservatory, while avoiding the cost and mess of digging new foundations.

Throughout the project, Gary was particularly impressed by the personal service he received from hup! and AA Windows. Communication was clear from start to finish, and the team’s care and attention made the whole experience feel easy and reassuring.

A transformed living space

The finished hup! conservatory conversion has completely changed the way Gary uses his home and new space. What was once an old conservatory has now become a true home extension - a comfortable, relaxing and energy-efficient living space that can be used every day.

The new room has quickly become one of Gary’s favourite parts of the house. He uses it every day and says the transformation has made his home even more beautiful, while also improving its energy efficiency.

“Every morning I look at our home and pinch myself as to what a wonderful job AA Windows and the hup! system have done to make our home even more beautiful and much more energy efficient,” said Gary.
