A north-facing, shaded patio area was going largely unused, the kind of space you want to enjoy, but never quite do. Mr Tooth decided to change that by creating a new Flat Roof orangery that could be used all year round, turning an overlooked part of the garden into a practical, welcoming room that feels like a true extension of the home.

Their search originally started with something much simpler: replacing the windows. After finding a window manufacturer they liked, they discovered their installer through the manufacturer’s recommended supplier list. From the very first conversation, the professionalism and approach of the team stood out - and it didn’t take long before the project grew into something bigger, with plans for both the orangery and a utility rebuild. With the design taking shape, the installer recommended Ultraframe products to deliver the performance and finish the homeowners wanted.
What appealed most about the Ultraframe range was the “complete solution” it offered: a custom-sized, factory-built roof with strong thermal insulation properties and excellent structural strength, the homeowners opted for the Ultraframe Flat Roof.
To maximise daylight (especially important on a north-facing elevation), they added an Ultrasky Lantern, which brings in an impressive amount of natural light throughout the day - even when the weather is overcast. To finish it off, they selected a two-tier cornice on the flat roof, creating continuity across the full design and elevating the overall look.
Now complete, the Flat Roof orangery has become a bright, peaceful dining room that’s used every day - perfectly positioned next to the kitchen and immediately more convenient than the old set-up.
Mr Tooth explained: “The orangery has provided us with a fantastic dining room space which we can use all year round. The build finish achieved has been stunning. The space is peaceful, bright and warm, and the level of insulation makes it easy to heat and maintain comfortable temperatures with little effort. The lantern provides an amazing amount of light all day, far more than when it was an open space.”

“That day-to-day impact has been huge. Where the dining table used to live in the kitchen, the home now feels more purposeful, with the kitchen freed up for cooking and storage, and the orangery taking on the role of a dedicated dining space.”
Mr Tooth described the customer service from their installer (21st Century Ltd) exemplary, highlighting the high standard installation work and how responsive the team were.
