THE CHALLENGE - A Modern Conservatory Extension

Our Installation of the Month winner this time is Forest Edge Home Improvements who created a stunning extension featuring an Ultrasky roof.

The Renshaw family live in Lymington in Hampshire in a beautiful arts & crafts-style house. While their home was already large, the family wanted a new living space to bring the outside in, and make the most of their garden.

Luckily for them, their local Ultraframe Ultra Installer – Forest Edge Home Improvements – is located a stone’s throw from their home and they were able to explain the wide range of Ultraframe conservatory and extension systems available to create the Orangery style extension that the family desired.

Explaining more about the project, Mrs Renshaw said: “We really wanted to enjoy the views of our garden by living on the back of our home and we decided that an Orangery would be a beautiful way to do this. After meeting with James from Forest Edge Home Improvements, he showed us the Ultraframe Ultrasky roof and Internal Pelmet systems, which allowed us to create the effect we wanted, but in a much more cost efficient way than a traditionally built Orangery.”

PLANNING THE DREAM

The family decided on an 8m wide extension featuring a stunning Ultrasky roof in contemporary black aluminium inside and out, and a two-tier black external cornice. On the interior a 500mm wide internal pelmet provided the Orangery look the family desired, while complementary black aluminium bi-folds, spanning almost the full width of the extension ensured that they really could bring their garden into their home. Aluminium was chosen for both the roof and the doors thanks to its contemporary slimline aesthetics.

For such a large scale project, there was a very involved decision making process to ensure that every aspect of the finished extension was perfect, as James Elliott of Forest Edge Home Improvements explained: “As you’d imagine for such a large project, we worked alongside the client for several months before the order was placed to help them achieve the effect they desired. We were the only company that the family obtained quotes from that was able to provide them with answers to all of their questions and provide the products they knew they wanted.”

LIVING THE DREAM

As well as completing the installation, Forest Edge Home Improvements also installed flooring throughout the extension to match the house, sourcing reclaimed timber floorboards to the exact same size and depth as the original house to obtain a seamless transition between the existing floor and the new Orangery extension. Timber bi-fold doors were also installed between the house and the new living space.

Not surprisingly, the Renshaw family is thrilled with their new living space, as Mrs Renshaw explained: “Not only have we gained a lot of extra square footage, our new extension also has the wow factor due to the bi-fold doors and glass roof which lets in lots of natural light, whatever the weather. We love it – we spend weekends relaxing on the sofa and having family meals at the table, in fact, we spend all our time in the new room! The customer service from Forest Edge Home Improvements was excellent throughout and we would highly recommend them.”
