Additional family space

The Varrie family live in a modern detached home in Buckinghamshire. After six years in the property, the family loved their home but with three teenage children, they were keen to have more family space and bring additional light into the kitchen. They had also always wanted bi-fold doors that would open up their living space and allow them to enjoy the garden more.

After contacting their local Ultra Installer, Vale Conservatory Company, they looked at a range of Ultraframe systems and design options and settled on a large contemporary Orangery featuring an Ultrasky roof. Ultrasky gives a bright contemporary look as thanks to its immense strength, it has 25% fewer bars than competitor systems – meaning more sky and less roof. The roof also incorporates a structural goalpost, meaning there is no need to use additional structural supports above spans of bi-fold doors.

Explaining more about the stunning addition to their home, Mrs Varrie said: “We looked at a number of different options but didn’t like the traditional tie bar across the roof that featured on other systems. Ultraframe gave us the clean lines and modern, stylish look we were looking for and also the quality of the roof product was reassuring.”

Much more light

After removing 4.5m of the existing kitchen wall, the team at Vale Conservatory Company set about building the 5.5 x 3.5m Orangery, complete with two sets of bi-fold doors to completely open the space up to the garden beyond. The roof and doors are anthracite grey on both sides for an ultra-modern look, and a curved cornice and brick pillars complete the Orangery look.

Explaining how the Orangery has filled their home with natural light, Mrs Varrie said: “We love our new Orangery, it has completely changed the house and brought much more light into the kitchen as well as making it far more sociable. We use it all the time as an additional family room to relax in and watch TV. It’s also brilliant opening all the doors allowing the garden to become a part of the house. We couldn’t imagine our home without it now!”

A fantastic space to relax

The Ultrasky Orangery is, without doubt, a stunning addition to this beautiful family home. For many homeowners planning a conservatory or extension project, introducing light into their home is as key as adding additional space and the Varrie family have certainly noticed the benefits of natural light, as Mrs Varrie concluded: “We have been able to put a new kitchen in which works much better for a family of five and is so much lighter. The Orangery has also brought much more light into the house - our garden is north facing so this really helps. While we always loved our home, the Ultrasky Orangery has made such a difference and enabled us to get the kitchen/family room we’ve always wanted. We now have a fantastic space to relax in and enjoy all year round. The customer service from Vale Conservatory Company was good and the team on site were very professional and kept us informed throughout the whole process and build. In fact we have already recommended them and Ultraframe products to family and friends!”
