Ultrasky Lantern Exeter

The winner of July’s ‘Installer of the Month’ centres around Mr & Mrs Mudge, who added three exceptional Ultrasky Lanterns into their conservatory roof.

Mr & Mrs Mudge are not new to the home improvement industry, and after moving into their new home, knew exactly what needed to be done to improve their living space.

With stunning views over Exeter Golf & Country Club, they wanted to ensure they are exposed to as much of it as possible.

As Mr Mudge explains:

“We were determined to move into this house and just enjoy the space.  But as soon as we moved in we could immediately see where there was room for improvement.  The conservatory was the obvious starting point.”

THE CHALLENGE

With 16 previous moves under their belt, Mr & Mrs Mudge are not new to changing homes and the home improvements that come with it. After purchasing their current home in February 2018, they moved in and immediately knew where they could improve.

Wanting to reap all the benefits of being near Exeter Golf & Country Club, they knew the conservatory was the place to start. Whilst they loved their new home, they understood that they could obtain more light and space with this renovation.

Mr Mudge explains:

“We couldn’t quite agree on exactly what we wanted to achieve with the existing conservatory space but we knew it needed to be bigger.  At just 2.5m by 1.8m it really wasn’t fit for purpose so we agreed we needed to rebuild a new space.  We also wanted it to feel more like a room than a conservatory but still be a light, bright space with lots of glazing.”

With their vision in mind, they were on a mission to find the perfect product to help achieve their dreams.

THE OUTCOME

Mr & Mrs Mudge were eager to create the perfect space that felt more like an extra room than a conservatory, so turned to the Ultraframe website for help and inspiration.

Mr Mudge was guided to the Ultrasky Lantern, which they agreed was the perfect product for them. The couple agreed that they did not want anthracite grey or black that most use, so this was ideal as it is available in a range of stunning colours.

By choosing colours that complement their home, they were able to create a space that is brighter and more open, without looking like a conservatory.

Mr & Mrs Mudge also decided to incorporate a set of stunning bi-fold doors, to enhance the amount of light entering their home, whilst also ensuring there is a seamless blend between their home and the outside world.

As well as this, they have managed to increase the footprint of their home to 5.2m by 7m, adding just over 32m² to their home. To create the feel of another room, instead of a conservatory, Four Seasons Home Improvements took their old patio doors away.

With Underfloor Heating throughout the entire downstairs of their home, Mr & Mrs Mudge have been able to create the perfect ambient space.

Mr Mudge comments:

“We’ve got some way to go until our renovation is complete but the Orangery is an absolute triumph.  There’s nothing more relaxing than sitting in the Orangery and watching the golfers on the first tee.  Not only have we created something beautiful for us to enjoy, we’ve also created a talking-point - the golfers are always happy to give us a thumbs up!”
