The conservatory used in this case study has a glass roof and light oak frames to complement the existing windows and doors, is furnished with a range of comfortable settees and chairs and is used for family living and casual dining.

Mr & Mrs Horn live in their modern detached home in Lancashire with their three children, aged between 12 and 21. They added a large 5-facet Victorian L-shaped Ultraframe conservatory to their home to extend the family's living space.

Their new conservatory has a glass roof and light oak frames that complement the existing windows and doors. The conservatory has a dwarf wall on one side and on the other, double doors link through to the garage.

The Horn’s conservatory is furnished with settees and chairs and is used for family living and casual dining. The Horn family decided not to have a TV in the conservatory, as this is a place for the family to spend time in.

Mrs Horn likes the fact they now have more space in the house, so family members have an area where they can enjoy quiet time alone. When asked if she would change about the conservatory, Mrs Horn replied "Nothing - I love it!"

Choosing the Right Conservatory for Your Home

The conservatory featured in this short case study – a large 5-facet Victorian L-shaped design – suited the Horn’s home perfectly. It didn’t overpower their home and added value to it by increasing the amount of space available. The structure was used interchangeably as a family-friendly area and a place for people to spend time in alone.

Featuring oak frames and a dwarf wall, the Horn’s conservatory is of traditional design and cosy inside. Thanks to the inclusion of a glass roof, the extension lets in lots of natural light, which means that during the day this is a welcoming space that can be used to entertain friends or family – perhaps when having a BBQ one summer’s afternoon.

A Range of Conservatory Designs

An L-shaped Victorian conservatory won’t suit a small or one-storey home. Instead, it will overpower the structure instead of blending in. A lean-to design – the roof of which will fit neatly under the eaves – will be more suitable choice.

Built to conform to a square or rectangular format, the lean-to design wastes not a single inch of space. This makes it an ideal choice for homeowners who have limited room in their home and don’t want to have to move.

An extensive range of conservatory styles will be accessible to you when you choose Ultraframe. Your approved Ultra Installer will be able to talk you through the relative features and benefits of each to help you make the right choice.

Which Conservatory Style is Best?

Once you’ve chosen your preferred conservatory design, it’s time to think about the style that will best suit your home. For your ease and convenience, we’ve created a three-tier classification system that’ll help you make the most appropriate choice.

Classic

If the traditional look depicted in this case study is exactly what you’re looking for, our Classic style will suit you perfectly. Featuring full height glazing and French doors, it can be customised to include high-performing glass, cornicing that’ll hide your guttering and a lightweight aluminium roof designed to comply with Building Regulations.

Designer

The inside of your conservatory will look and perform just like any other room in your home, thanks to the inclusion of perimeter ceiling pelmet that’s infilled with mineral wool insulation for your comfort. As with our other styles, you can customise your conservatory by adding cornicing, a deeper ceiling pelmet and much more.

Performance

Comfort is guaranteed with this outstanding conservatory style, which boast super insulating columns that add more than just decorative value and will provide you with levels of thermal efficiency 500% higher than those achieved by standard brick equivalents. Ask your approved Ultra Installer for more information when you speak to them.
